CATS The Musical

On Monday 11th – Saturday 16th July, the Empire Theatre will play host to one of the longest-running shows in West End and Broadway history. Andrew Lloyd Webber’s CATS will delight audiences at the Empire with timeless musical numbers ‘Memory’ and ‘Macavity’, stunning choreography and breath-taking sets.

Based on T.S. Eliot’s ‘Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats’, the show mixes drama and romance to tell the fantastical story of the Jellicle cat tribe on the night of the annual Jellicle Ball, where their leader Old Deuteronomy will decide which of the tribe will journey to the Heaviside Layer and be reborn into a new life.

The show’s central characters are soon revealed one by one as each auditions for the role – including Rum Tum Tugger, the mischievous rebellious kitten and the spats-wearing Bustopher Jones.

Winner of both an Olivier Award and a Tony Award, and having been performed in over 300 cities globally, CATS is one of the theatre’s most loved and most acclaimed productions.
