‘LEAP Fringe’ announced

With four weeks to go until the 26th annual LEAP dance festival, Merseyside Dance Initiative has revealed four experimental commissions for their first ever Fringe; featuring BBC Young Dancer 2019 finalist Matthew Rawcliffe and acclaimed dance artist Lisi Perry.

Popping up in unexpected venues, from the Metropolitan Cathedral to the Hope Street Suitcases, expect anything from an orchestra of yoga balls, to contemporary tap and a promenade adventure through space!

LEAP has been a key part of the UK’s dance calendar for over a quarter of a century, and for 2019 performers were invited to be part of a brand new Fringe, offering a platform for young performers based in Liverpool, and a chance for new audiences to experience dance. LEAP Fringe is a mini ‘festival-within-a-festival’ with a DIY ethos, using movement as the catalyst.

LEAP takes place from 3rd – 12th October across various Liverpool venues. For the full line-up of performances as well as to buy tickets for each show, head to mdi.org.uk/leap-2019.
