Liverpool River of Light: The Elements with Royal Liver Building 360

The Liverpool River of Light is set to return this November, with a specially commissioned display of music and light set to illuminate the skies above the River Mersey and entertain tens of thousands of local residents and visitors to the city.

River of Light: The Elements with Royal Liver Building 360 will see the return of Titanium Fireworks, who wowed crowds last year with a jaw dropping display. Tens of thousands of people are expected to gather at the waterfront in both Liverpool and New Brighton for the free event.

Liverpool River of Light

China Dream and The Elements

It will be the finale for the China Dream season, part of the city’s 2018 cultural programme, with a series of arts installations themed around the five elements that underpin Chinese philosophy – water, fire, earth, metal and wood – in Liverpool.

In Wirral, the event will be held in New Brighton with entertainment for all the family including the appearance of ghostly pirates on the Black Pearl. It will also be the final major event for the Imagine Wirral year of culture, creativity and ideas.

Liverpool River of Light: Accommodation

More information on the best vantage points to see the fireworks and where to enjoy the street entertainment will be added to the River of Light website soon, but here’s a hint – many of our city centre apartments have excellent views, so why not contact us our team about finding the ideal spot?

Liverpool River of Light: Getting There and Around

It’s going to be a busy one, so if you want a good spot and to be in place before the action starts, visitors are advised to arrive by 5pm before the fireworks begin at 6.30pm.

If you want to know more about travel or where best to enjoy the street entertainment, you’ll be able to find more information here, or you can watch out for our updates on Facebook and Twitter (we’ll be using the event hashtag #RiverOfLight).

For getting to the event a number of rail stations are just a short walk from the event, including Hamilton Square or New Brighton stations for the Wirral waterfront, and James Street or Liverpool Central for the Liverpool Waterfront.

Return travel starts from £2.05, or a family of five can enjoy a Family Ticket for just £11 – to plan your visit, you can use the Merseyrail Journey Planner.

Royal Liver Building 360

Oh and if you were wondering about the event’s headline sponsor, Royal Liver Building 360, that’s a new tourist attraction being delivered by Heritage Great Britain planned for the Royal Liver Building, which is set to open next year. We’ll keep you posted on that too!
